Heat Diffusion

In this module, we focus on modeling how heat diffuses from an object. The model can be applied to an image morphing technique that allows one image to be continuously "warped" into another image. Our materials are designed to leverage students' calculus background to understand the ideas behind the differential equation governing the heat diffusion, but to then focus on approximation with linear transformations to motivate many ideas from linear algebra.

The module is designed for inclusion in a first course in linear algebra, and a description can be found here. Please contact us if you'd like to try it in your course!
